Product Status: Planned

Notice: Concept & Specification Stage

PricePulse is an engineering concept currently in the technical specification phase. Automated alert schedulers and target monitoring engines are not yet operational.

Concept & Motivation

Developers, hardware builders, and procurement teams often need to track pricing for specialized components, cloud resources, or equipment across multiple suppliers. Commercial enterprise monitoring suites are frequently heavyweight, cost-prohibitive, and opaque.

PricePulse proposes a lean, self-directed monitoring dashboard with simple watchlist configuration and transparent price trajectory tracking.

Proposed Capabilities

  • Watchlist Management: Add and organize target product URLs and structured RSS/Atom price feeds.
  • Price History Visualization: Interactive time-series charts showing pricing trajectories and promotional dips.
  • Inventory Status Tracking: Detect in-stock, backorder, and out-of-stock transitions.
  • Price-Drop Notifications: User-configured triggers for absolute or percentage price decreases.
  • Lightweight Storage: Local-first database option to preserve user watchlist privacy without cloud locking.

Ethical Monitoring & Policy Compliance

Oompha Labs adheres to strict ethical engineering principles. PricePulse is designed with explicit boundaries:

  • Respect for robots.txt: The system will parse and honor host robots.txt directives and crawl-delay instructions.
  • Rate Limiting & Politeness: Built-in throttling to prevent denial-of-service risks or aggressive polling on target servers.
  • No Deceptive Scraping: We do not develop evasion techniques, anti-bot circumvention, or credential-spoofing mechanisms.
  • Terms of Service: Users will be informed that site-specific access rules and terms may limit automated monitoring on certain domains.

Technical & Operational Limitations

Arbitrary commercial web pages cannot be guaranteed to be monitorable. Pages protected by heavy client-side challenges, dynamic anti-scraping protections, or explicit automated access prohibitions will be flagged as unsupported.
